The Rareytec physical property laboratory has been in full operation since early 2024. We have implemented and validated a wide range of experimental techniques:
- Pure-component vapor pressure by direct measurement in a static cell and by the transpiration method
- Vapor-liquid equilibria (VLE) via headspace gas chromatography
- VLE of high-boiling mixtures by equilibrium saturation of an inert gas stream, with collection of all condensables in a cooling trap for weighing and further analysis (mixture transpiration)
- Entrainer evaluation for extractive distillation
- Gas solubilities and activity coefficients at infinite dilution via inert-gas stripping using component-specific detectors (NDIR, electrochemical)
- Gas solubility in static equipment; for CO₂ solubility, the gas partial pressure is measured in a thermostatted spectroscopic steel cell equipped with CaF₂ windows
- Liquid-liquid equilibria (LLE) of binary mixtures via cloud-point titration (turbidity sensor)
